Saying goodbye to your favorite characters is hard and sad, but also hopeful. It's like say goodbye to your family and friends when you move to a different city... you know they're there, close to you, and you can go back to them anytime.
We meet a diferent face of Florence in THE RAVEN (and before of that with THE PRINCE), a dark and sinister underworld full of intrigue. That underworld was ruled for a Prince, William York, a misterious man with no soul (according to himself) who takes what he wants when he wants it. Then, we meet Raven. She's a compassionate woman, brave and beautiful (inside and out), she taught us a thing or two about forgiveness and mercy, but also about love and hope.
In The Shadow, Sylvain Reynard wrote that William and Raven were "the most improbable of lovers" and maybe that's true, but they're also the most beautiful couple that I've read in a while. With their differences they learnt too many things about themselves, their passion and their love is so intense that you can feel it while you're reading. There's no way to read about those guys and not laught or cry with them.
Now, in The Roman, some misteries have been revealed. There's more action, intrigue, suspense... but more passion and more love. The plot is so strong you can put the book down till the end, and even at that point you want to read more.
This book was such an emotional ride. Some scenes were so real I had to close the book, drink my coffee and remind myself it was, in mom's words, just a book. I was a mess at the end, crying. Tears of fear, then tears of joy.
The author said on Twitter that his books were about hope and redemption, and that's true. #TheRoman isn't the exception. William's journey to faith and hope, and also redemption was exciting. Raven was his anchor and our mirror. We learnt from her to accept ourselves, to have faith in people, be kind to everyone... She taught our William to love, to down his sword and to open his heart.
I think this is the best book in the Florentine Series by far, but then whole series was awesome. As a Paranormal Romance reader (lover) I must to say this story is like anything I've read before. Yes, there's paranormal creatures and love involved, but the development, the background of the characters, the contexts, and the investigation about the facts is impresive. I don't want to share spoilers, but let me tell you, if you haven't preorder your copy YOU SHOULD DO IT RIGHT NOW.
