Little Gray Dress
by Aimee Brown

Release Date: August 2nd, 2017
Publisher: Crooked Cat Books
Genre: Romantic Comedy/Chick Lit

Emi Harrison has avoided her ex-fiance, Jack Cabot, for nearly two years. Her twin brother Evan’s wedding is about to end that streak.
From bad bridesmaid’s dresses, a hyperactive sister-in-law, a mean girl with even meaner secrets, and too much to drink, nothing seems to go right for Emi, except when she’s wearing her little gray dress.
When she speed-walks into Liam Jaxon’s bar, things get more complicated. He’s gorgeous, southern, and has no past with Emi. He may be exactly what she needs to prove for the last time that she doesn’t need or want Jack!

Her favorite little gray dress has made an appearance at nearly every major event in Emi’s adult life. Will it make another when she least expects it?

When I first read about this book I was intrigued. Chick Lit books has always been one of my favorite kind of books. The premise of this story, the encounter with an ex fiance after a hard break up -and in a wedding, had me excited. Then I started to read, and page after page I falled in love with Emi.

If I have to compare this author with others, I must say Aimee is a mix between Sophie Kinsella and Julie James (who, btw, is one of my favorite romance writers), because as those authors she can create characters you feel related to, wich stories make you laught and swoon, and have a good time, but also feel the characters pain/struggle, cry with them, feel them as your friends... and then laught again.

The narrative rythim was insane. Chapter after chapter you know more about Emi's past, but also live with her every struggle before her Hanna's wedding. Once you start reading you can stop. I read the book twice before this day, and I'm pretty sure I'll be reading it again because it's THAT good. The descriptive level was wonderful, how the author pictured the places, the people and the situations make you feel as if you are there with the characters.

I really enjoyed Emi's friendship with Lily and Hannah, her relationship with her twin brother Evan and how she reacted when she saw Jack for the very first time after two years. I loved how the feelings she had deep inside her fought to reach the surface again. I liked Liam too... and how he conect with Emi. His rol in the story was pretty cool. Jack was amazing every moment, I get why he was the way he was.

What I didn't like, was Greta (THAT BITCH!!). In fact, I hate that girl. She's bad! like really really bad person. She's self centered, selfish, envious... she's all that you don't need near you. But she's part of the wedding party and she has something that once was Emi's.

As wedding's day get closer, things start to get weird but fun. There's a drunk Emi having bad luck, some "beauty accidents" and strong revelations. Get ready for the ride!

Little Gray Dress is a fun, sweet and romantic story that celebrates friendship and love, but also has many emotional moments, intrigue and secrets to be discovered. It's a short story so you can read it pretty quick, but also it's so amazing you will want to read it again and again (like myself). If you're looking for a new book, try this one.

Aimee Brown is a writer and an avid reader. Little Gray Dress is her first published novel. My second novel is in the works now. She’s currently studying for her Bachelor’s degree in English Writing. She spends much of her time writing, doing homework, raising three teenagers, binge watching shows on Netflix and obsessively cleaning and redecorating her house. She’s fluent in sarcasm and has been known to utter profanities like she’s competing for a medal.
Aimee grew up in Oregon but is now a transplant living in cold Montana with her husband of twenty years, three teenage children, and far too many pets.
She would love to hear your thoughts on Little Gray Dress! If you’d like to chat with her she’s very active on social media. You can find her at any of the networks below. Stop by and say hello!
