#Review MEET ME UNDER THE MISTLETOE by Carla Burgess

10:56

Let's finish this holiday season with a Christmas story. I read this book a few weeks ago, and enjoyed how light, fresh and funny this novel was. I haven't remembered at the moment that I'd read a book by this author before (Marry me tomorrow), but it was clear when the characters from said novel made an appareance.

I loved that little detail, and researching more about the author I realized, there's one more book I should read. But first, let's talk about 'Meet me under the mistletoe'

Synopsys:

A fabulously festive romantic read, perfect to curl up with by the fire this Christmas!

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas at the little flower shop…

Florist Rachel Jones might spend every day making beautiful bridal bouquets at her little flower shop, but her own love life is wilting as quickly as a bunch of dead roses.

Luckily, the arrival of handsome detective Anthony Bascombe, the new tenant upstairs is the perfect distraction! Although there’s a catch, Anthony isn’t looking for love – he’s looking for her ex-fiancé, Patrick…

But as the snow begins to fall and her little shop fills with mistletoe ready for Christmas, will Rachel manage to melt Anthony’s heart?

Fans of Debbie Johnson, Holly Martin and Christie Barlow will love this heartwarming read from the bestselling author of Marry Me Tomorrow.

'Meet me under the mistletoe' surprised me a lot. When the story started to built, it gave me some romantic suspense vibes, you know: A detective came to town and met a nice girl, she has some secrets and he wants to reveal them. Beside those vibes, we have all that Christmas energy running around, people getting ready for the festivities, the snow, the magic... It was fun to read.

The first person narration from Rachel's perspective made me see things the same way she saw them, experiment every scene from her point of view: the joyful moments, the sad moments, the suspense, the fears, the doubts. Everything. I liked that. But also made me discover Detective Bascompe as she did, revealing the details about his personality little by little and, as Rachel, I felt in love with him.

These characters have to fight a lot to find their happy ending, they have to face their own demons and some other difficulties but 'the hardest you fight, the sweetest is the price' they say.

I loved this book. It was a nice read, funny, sweet and romantic. And, as I said before, some characters from Marry me tomorrow (and Stuck with you) have a cameo here (this latest book, I have to read it ASAP).

So, if you're looking for a light read this week, or if your building your TBR for next holiday season) take a look on this book.
